SPEC is excited to announce that the Makerspace project will launch in February. Makerspace is a technology-focused community-run space and innovation center for youth and adults who are passionate about creating and exploring.  Coming together, creating together and sharing ideas - a great place to be! They are in immediate need of  tables, chairs or other office furnishings.In addition, we are looking for community members to be mentors and/or to support the launch of Makerspace. The General Meeting of the Brooks Citizens on Patrol will be held on Tuesday, January 16th . According to members, this is a do or die meeting. They need support to keep it going.  The meeting is at 7:00 pm at the Brooks Canadian Legion.

The Bassano Arts Council presents the Derina Harvey Band, on Wedenesday, January 17th at the  Bassano Community Hall.  Doors open at 6:30.

The Brooks Fish and Game Annual General Meeting is on Tuesday, January 16th, 7:00 pm at the JBS Canada Centre.  Everyone is welcome.

Whether you sing, play an instrument, dance, do drama reading or more, you can be part of the Annual Brooks Music Festival.  Registration will take place January 19th and 20th  at the Alliance Church.. For more information and registration forms, go to  Brooksmusicfestival.ca. The Music Festival is in March with the Gala and Grand Concerts set for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 20th and 21st

The Duchess Ag Society presents a Community Spirit Gala on Saturday, January 20th.  There will be dinner, a silent auction and dance to the Bamboo Guppies.  Proceeds go to the operating costs and future upgrades to the aging facilites in Duchess.

To make sure your child is fitted properly and you have the right car seat, Car Seat Clinics are held each month at 504 Cassils Road East at the Fire Hall.  No appointments are necessary.  The next Car Seat Clinic is Monday, January 22nd from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  A properly installed car seat is like a warm hug.

The 3rd Annual Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction presented by the Brooks Bombers & Brooks Regional Ballpark Association introduces a night with Toronto Blue Jays Alumni Jesse Barfiled, Rance Mullnicks and Duane Ward with Special Guest MC Darrell Romuld (CTV Regina New Anchor and Brooks native) on Saturday, February 10th.  The event takes place at the Cassils Hall.  Cocktails are at 6:00 pm, steak dinner is at 7:00 pm.

The Brooks and District Child Development Society, Toy Library Program presents Jennie Ogilvie, Alberta's favourite medium, on Tuesday, February 13th at the Brooks Legion.  Tickets available at Work N Play or the Toy Library. The Legion will also be having a Prime Rib Buffet will be available for $18.00 per person.
